Who we are
The Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children (RI ICAC) Task Force is a multi-agency group comprised of sworn federal, state and local law enforcement officials, local prosecution officials, local educators, private information technologists and mental health professionals.
What we do
The RI ICAC Task Force is charged with the prevention, interdiction, investigation and prosecution of individuals who use the Internet to exploit children.
The RI ICAC Task Force works closely with the University of Rhode Island Computer Science Department and the URI Crime Laboratory.
The RI ICAC Task Force works with Rhode Island school departments to educate middle and high school students on Internet safety and responsibility.
Our mission
As a law enforcement-oriented task force, our primary goal is to protect children. This task force also seeks to combat crimes against children through the Internet by the vigorous investigation and prosecution of offenders.
What this website offers
The RI ICAC task force uses this website to offer invaluable information to parents, children and educators to teach others about the dangers associated with Internet use. This website also provides a link for users to report any Internet activity that may seem dangerous to children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) Cybertipline. Information reported to the NCMEC is reported to a national database, allowing other ICAC task forces throughout the country to investigate and prosecute offenders.
The Rhode Island Cyber Security Initiative works to address gaps in protecting critical infrastructure within Rhode Island from cyber attacks and cyber terrorism related events.
The investigators prevent, protect against, detect, respond to and assist in the recovery of cyber terrorism related incidents.
The Initiative also assists in the assessment of risks to Rhode Island's critical cyber-infrastructure, identifying potential means of cyber attacks and recommending protective controls for critical information systems.
